Segura® Appoints Jelle Wieringa to Lead Growth and Expansion

Segura® has announced that Jelle Wieringa is joining as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), bringing more than 20 years of experience across cybersecurity, SaaS, and commercial growth.

Jelle has spent more than two decades working directly with cybersecurity organizations as they scale. He has seen how buying decisions are made, where implementations succeed or stall, and what it takes for a security platform to deliver real value over time.

That experience shapes how he approaches this role, with a focus on how customers evaluate, implement, and get value from security in real environments.

The market he is stepping into is already crowded. Many organizations are managing multiple identity and access tools at once, with overlapping capabilities and limited visibility across them. For Jelle, that creates a clear focus: helping customers simplify, consolidate, and get control without adding more complexity.

In a recent interview, he shared how that perspective has shaped both his career and his decision to join Segura®.

“I’ve always been excited by doing great things with great people. Things that actually make an impact for customers. At Segura®, I have this opportunity.”

How Access Becomes Difficult to Track As Companies Grow

Jelle has seen the same pattern play out across organizations as they grow.

An engineer leaves, but their access remains active. A service account from an old project is still running in production. A vendor logs in using shared credentials that no one has reviewed recently.

Nothing appears broken. But when someone asks, “Who has access to this system?” the answer takes time to piece together.

Jelle explains how identity security has shifted over time:

“As companies grow, their security challenges shift from protecting systems to managing complexity. What starts as a relatively contained IT environment quickly turns into a fragmented ecosystem consisting of cloud platforms, SaaS applications, on-prem legacy systems, third parties, and machine identities.”

From his perspective, this doesn’t happen all at once. It builds over time as systems expand, roles change, and access continues to accumulate.

“In my experience, three challenges tend to emerge:
First, the sheer number of identities and corresponding permissions increases drastically.
Second, access becomes increasingly difficult for an organization to control as system complexity evolves.
And third, security and IT teams struggle to maintain a clear, real-time understanding of who actually needs access to what resource.”

At that point, simple questions become difficult to answer:

  • Who has access to this system right now?
  • Which accounts are no longer needed?
  • Where does sensitive access exist across the environment?

Answering those questions often means teams have to pull logs from one tool, permissions from another, and context from someone who may or may not still be with the company.

Jelle hears this consistently from security leaders dealing with these challenges day to day.

“They don’t necessarily need more tools. They need security products that reduce complexity, integrate well with existing environments, and actually help them make better security decisions.
The biggest gap I see is that vendors often build technology, while security leaders are looking for outcomes and a real-world impact.”

This is the gap Jelle is focused on solving, both in how Segura® builds its platform and how it brings that platform to market.

Why Jelle Chose Segura®

For Jelle, the decision to join Segura® was a considered one. It came down to timing, product maturity, and what he saw when he looked closely at the company and its direction.

“Identity security has become one of the most critical areas in cybersecurity, and Segura® operates right at that intersection of access governance, identity risk, and operational security.”

He recognized the same challenges he has seen across his career reflected clearly in both the product and the conversations with customers.

“Segura® isn’t trying to build just another security tool. The company is addressing a problem that security teams genuinely struggle with: gaining control and visibility over identity-related risk in complex environments through a unified interface that makes deployment fast, operations practical, and day-to-day use simple.”

The decision was also shaped by the people behind the platform. Jelle saw a team with a clear focus and a shared commitment to solving real challenges teams face every day.

“I found the people at Segura® to be passionate about security and focused on building products that solve the day-to-day challenges security practitioners and leaders deal with in complex environments.”

“When you talk to customers and hear the same challenges repeatedly, and then see a platform that directly tackles those issues, that’s a strong signal that you’re in the right space.”

The Approach That Stood Out: How Segura® Helps Teams Stay in Control of Access

One of the key differences Jelle sees, compared to other security platforms he has worked with, is how Segura® approaches identity security.

“What stands out most to me about Segura®’s approach to identity security is that the company starts from the operational reality security teams face, not from a theoretical security model.”

In practice, teams are working across multiple systems, responding to access requests, reviewing permissions, and preparing for audits, often at the same time. Access is not clean or static. It changes constantly as roles shift, integrations grow, and new identities are introduced.

“In real organizations, access is rarely clean or perfectly structured. Permissions evolve, integrations multiply, and identities accumulate privileges as companies grow and people shift roles.”

Segura® is built to support that environment, giving teams a clearer way to understand who has access, how it is being used, and where it needs to be adjusted as things change.

“It’s the combination of providing a world-class security product with an understanding that we need to help our customers derive maximum value from it. It is this practicality, understanding of real-world challenges, and expertise in identity security that sets us apart.”

Segura® Is Entering Its Next Stage of Global Growth

Jelle is joining Segura® at a point where the company is moving into its next phase of growth.

The platform is proven and trusted across complex environments. The core capabilities are established. The focus now is expanding that success.

“The opportunity for Segura® lies in helping organizations bring visibility and control to this growing identity landscape.”

The recent investment from Riverwood Capital provides the foundation for that next stage. It enables Segura® to expand internationally, invest further in the platform, and scale its presence in key markets.

Jelle’s role is to turn that momentum into consistent, scalable growth. That means building a go-to-market strategy that reflects how customers actually evaluate and adopt security solutions, expanding into priority markets, and aligning sales, partners, and product around a clear path to value.

“For customers, that translates into a stronger product roadmap, deeper integrations, and a partner that is building for the long term.”

Why Partners Play a Central Role in Segura®’s Next Phase

Jelle places strong emphasis on the role of partners as a core part of how Segura® delivers results in real environments.

“Partners play a critical role in helping our customers successfully implement and solve identity-related challenges because technology alone rarely delivers value on its own.”

Implementation is only one step. The real impact comes from how a solution is introduced into existing systems, adapted to day-to-day workflows, and supported over time.

“Our channel partners are the bridge between the security products developed by Segura® and the customer’s real-world environment.”

Partners bring hands-on experience from working directly with customers. They understand the constraints, priorities, and operational realities that shape how security is deployed and used.

Partners are also a key part of how Segura® grows. As the company expands into new regions, partners extend reach, accelerate adoption, and help ensure customers see value quickly.

“Segura® has already proven the technology and product-market fit. The next step is scaling that success globally, and that’s exactly the phase I find most exciting.”

What Comes Next as Identity Continues to Grow

Jelle is focused on what comes after adoption, when environments keep expanding, and expectations keep rising.

Organizations will continue adding systems, integrations, and machine identities. That growth will not slow down. What matters is whether teams can keep pace and stay in control as everything around them changes.

“As organizations adopt more cloud services, AI, automation, and interconnected systems, identities are multiplying at an unprecedented pace.
Every new employee, service account, API integration, AI tool, and automated process introduces another identity with a complex set of permissions attached to it.”

This is the direction the industry is moving. More access, more connections, and more decisions happening every day.

For Jelle, this is the opportunity ahead. Bringing a practical approach to identity security to more organizations, and helping teams stay in control as their environments continue to grow.
